Lesson 21: We Are Moving
I didn’t purpose to be in the space that I find myself in – Founder & CEO, Passionate Entrepreneur, EQ Fanatic and OWIT Nairobi President. God plucked me from the path that I had set out for myself & set me on an alternative journey. At the start it all appeared somewhat ‘accidental’ but I know now that it was no accident, rather His design, His purpose for my life…
So now that I am here, these are my confessions…the lessons I am learning about being a woman in business, building an empire, one brick at a time…
Lesson No. 21: We are moving!
“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on”
~ Exodus 14:15
I have learned the growth can be terrifying – but true leadership is about moving forward anyway, regardless of how you feel.
PTS has been housed at Timau Plaza since – sharing the space with 2 amazing women in business, but it’s time for this baby to walk, it’s time for us to step out on our own. In my head this next step is very clear – we need a space to grow, to chart new unexplored territories, but my heart tells a different tale – oscillating from one intense emotion to another. I am extremely excited, and at the same time I have moments where I experience what can only be described as sheer terror and there are nights where I wake up doubting the wisdom of this move – is it really a good idea? Are we over extending ourselves?
We are moving anyway….
Because I know this is the right time, and because I know that the God I serve has called me – commanded me – to move on.
Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable is essential for growth as growth is so often born out of discomfort.
Emotions have a push or pull effect. They are a force of energy that can be harnessed to help us move forward intentionally. Unfortunately, we are often oblivious to how our emotions are influencing our motivation – either pushing towards or pulling away from our goals.
As you think about your goals & the direction that you are moving right now, ask yourself, “what am I feeling?” “What else?” “And what else?” I have learned that it’s important to check in, to develop the habit of being introspective, and peel back the layers & dig deeper.
Emotions are data – information informing us of the ‘state of the heart’ & equipping us with the insight necessary to take action
Emotional Intelligence is being smart with feelings. More aware, more intentional, more purposeful.
With Love,
The Queen Of Hearts
